Burns Night on Zoom, 6pm Monday 25th January

Dear friends,

This is to let you know the details of Monday’s Burns Celebration – please let me know if you’re planning to join the Zoom, so that I can send you the link; as well as the names of any others you’ve invited, so that we know who to expect – thank you , let us know by Saturday if possible. If you need a hand getting on to Zoom, let me know and I’ll try to help you out.  Contact details can be found elsewhere on this website if you don’t already have them.

The plan is to start with the Piping in of the Haggis (by Bobby Deuchar), and continue with the Addressing of the Haggis (by Lesley Fraser).  We’ll then have a 10 minute break for those of us wanting to show our appreciation of our own prepared haggis at that point! – with some Scottish music in the background.  Of course, you may prefer a Scottish snack and beverage instead – that’s up to you!

We’ll then continue with a mixture of songs, poems and music (involving Eileen Peebles, John McCall and Lesley again, as well as Bobby and myself contributing bits).  The Celebration will end with the singing of Auld Lang Syne accompanied by Eileen (words to appear on the screen).  We don’t think the event will last longer than an hour and we now have a professional Zoom licence so you’ll only need to join once!  Please wear something tartan if you would like.

One last thing, a few people have asked if we would be fundraising.  As January can be such a difficult month for people and even more so in this pandemic, we thought we’d invite people to make donations if they would like to the local mental health charity, Falkirk and District Association for Mental Health (FDAMH).  Here is the link to the ‘Donation’ button on their website for those who would like to do that:

I look forward to hearing from those who would like to join the Celebration!

God bless,

Willie
